
Penderecki Quartet
Joseph first appeared with the Penderecki Quartet in the 2000 edition of the Strings of the Future Festival at Ottawa's National Gallery in the premiere performance of Andrew McDonald's The Winds of Thera. It was the first of a number of accordion quintets to be commissioned with the Penderecki for accordion.
Subsequent performances included recordings for Societe Radio Canada, appearances at the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Kitchener's Perimeter Centre, Toronto's Music Gallery and the Wilfred Laurier University Noon Hour Series.
Joseph recently recorded a disc devoted entirely to the music of composer Andrew MacDonald with the Penderecki on the Centrediscs Label with oboist Normand Forget.The disc is to be released in late 2007. In 2005, Joseph premiered the work Defait a major addition to the accordion canon by composer Yannick Plammondon, and more recently, Jascha Narveson's new work for quartet, harp and accordion at the Perimiter Institute.
In the spring of 2007, the Canada Council announced that it had commissioned Jules Leger Prize winner Eric Morin of Quebec City to write a work for quartet, accordion, narration and electro- acoustic element based on Erasmus' text In Praise of Folly.
